Nearly 7 million people of working age in the UK are disabled or have a health condition.
At a seminar today organised by Croydon Council, Clairglow staff explored ways that as an employer we can:
- remove barriers to work that disabled people face
- increase our understanding of disability
- ensure disabled people have opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspiration
Speakers at the seminar shared their experiences from a disability confident employer point of view and from a disabled employee perspective.
Speaking after the seminar, Louise Frost, Clairglow Director said “Employers are crucial to improving employment outcomes for disabled people. It has been very interesting to hear from other companies about how recruiting and developing disabled employees has been very beneficial for their business. It’s great to hear from other businesses how employing people with disabilities provides a more diverse workforce, improves staff awareness of disability issues and improves customer service.”
As an employer, Clairglow is proud to be taking part in the Disability Confident Employer campaign and playing our part in removing the barriers to work faced by disabled people.
